The gardening guru suggests taking a moment to inspect your plants, especially looking out for spent flowers that need removing.
Pim advised: Take a wander around the garden with a pair of snips in hand and just remove any blooms that have finished flowering.
This will not only tidy things up but also greatly extend the flowering season by encouraging more blooms to appear, reports the Express.

Deadheading is beneficial throughout the growing period, but for plants like chrysanthemums or geraniums that have a late surge of blooms, July is the prime time for this practice.
Additionally, this weekend presents an ideal time to give your shrubs a once-over and provide them with some nurturing care if necessary.
Pim explained: If you have any early flowering shrubs that finished their displays, then now is the last opportunity to trim them back.

How to deadhead your plants
Youll need to remove the bloom along with its stem to maintain your plant finest appearance.
However, for plants with thick, sturdy or fibrous stems, it advisable to use secateurs, scissors or a knife for deadheading.
